Etelän puolen reitillä en missään tapauksessa missaisi PCH 1:tä rannikolla välillä Santa Cruz - Morro Bay/Cambria ja matkalla Montereyssä Cannery Row pysähdys ja ajelu rantaa pitkin ocean view boulevard ja jos on aikaa tai on golf friikki niin 17 mile drive päälle. Big Sur on hienoista hienointa maisemaa.

May 3rd - Mountain View to Bodega Bay, CA
We will pick you up at the airport and bring you to our shop to get your bike.* Head out over the Golden Gate Bridge (stop at scenic overlook on North side) and then to Highway 1 and the coast.* Stop in the 1800's Railroad town of Pt Reyes Station, then on to Bodega Bay (home of the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds") for the night.

May 4th -*Bodega Bay to Eureka, CA
Spend the day exploring the California coast.* Stop at the Point Arena Lighthouse for an interesting tour.* Twist and turn up the coast and over the mountains to Leggett for a quick stop at the Chandelier Drive-Through Tree, then detour off the main road to the Avenue of the Giants to ride among the tallest trees on Earth, the coastal Redwoods.* Stop for the night in Eureka, and stop at the Samoa Cookhouse for a unique dinner.

May 5th - Eureka to Coos Bay, OR
Continue up the coast road through Redwood National Park and into Oregon and Coos Bay.

May 6th - Coos Bay to Astoria, OR
Continue up the Oregon Coast with stops at Cape Perpetua, Oregon Dunes and Otter Crest State Scenic Viewpoint.* For the most part you will follow Highway 1, but I have included a few detours that are highly recommended roads that start just north of Lincoln City.* This is a lot of miles for one day, so you can either get an early start to take all the detours, or cut some of them out.

May 7th - Astoria to Pendleton, OR
You start out on more back-road detours, then jump on the main highway to get around the Vancouver/Portland area. You will drive along the Columbia River starting on the Washington side, then cross the river (with a spectacular view) at the Bridge of the Gods.* More main road, but the drive is gorgeous (but can be windy) along the river, until you turn inland to spend the night in Pendleton.

May 8th - Pendleton to Cambridge, OR
Spend the day exploring Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and stay in the little town of Cambridge.*

Head into the backroads of Idaho and spend the night in Stanley in the Sawtooth Wilderness.
Check on weather conditions for this part of the route - make sure Highway 21 is open.*

May 10th - Stanley, ID to Jackson, WY
Head back out of the Idaho Mountains and across the scenic farmland before heading back into the Wyoming mountains to Jackson.* This is a fun town - be sure to stop for adult beverages (after parking the bike) at the Cowboy Bar.

May 11th - Jackson to West Yellowstone, MT
Head north out of Jackson through Grand Teton National Park and into the south entrance to Yellowstone National Park.* Stop at Old Faithful, and make a detour along the Firehole Canyon Rd.* Spend the night in West Yellowstone.* Watch for wildlife on the roadways in the park.

May 12th - Yellowstone to Cody, WY
Check on weather conditions for this part of the route.* The northern roads through the park could still be closed.* I have you routed doing a loop of the park if the weather permits - stop at Mammoth Hot Springs and many other neat spots in the park.* Be sure to look through the brochure and maps that you got at the entrance station.* Leave the park by the eastern entrance and go into Cody Wyoming for the night.* This town, named after Buffalo Bill, has a great Museum of the West.* Be sure to spend some time here this afternoon or tomorrow morning.

May 13th - Cody to Deadwood, SD
Head out across the Big Horn Scenic Byway (WY-14) then jump on the Interstate to make time.* Spend the night in Deadwood and stop at Saloon #10 (known for the shooting of Wild Bill Hickok but no longer in the original location) and other historic locations.

May 14th - Deadwood to Rapid City, SD
Head out to the Badlands National Park.* Take the Interstate out to Wall and be sure to stop at Wall Drug for an interesting, uniquely American experience, before heading to the park.* Explore the park, and take the backroads to Rapid City for the night.

May 15th - Rapid City to Guernsey, WY
Spend the day exploring the Black Hills, heading to Mount Rushmore and taking the amazing Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway through Custer State Park and to Crazy Horse Memorial.* Then head out of the Black Hills and into the Wyoming grasslands.* Spend the night in the little town of Guernsey.

May 16th - Guernsey to Glenwood Springs, CO
This starts out as a pretty boring ride, on the main highway through the grasslands of Wyoming.* You will pick up Interstate 70 - it may be an interstate, but it's a GREAT ride through the Rocky Mountains that will take you through the world's highest elevation tunnel - the Eisenhower tunnel.*

May 17th - Glenwood Springs to Moab, UT
This is an easy day to make up for the miles yesterday.* Continue on the Interstate through Colorado (still a nice ride) then head south in Utah to Moab and spend the afternoon exploring Arches National Park and/or Canyonlands National Park.

May 18th, Moab to Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park, UT
This is a short ride through the Utah desert*to give you time to explore Monument Valley.**There is a spectacular hotel located right at the park - The View hotel - it's expensive, but I have been told it's worth the money.* If you are not going to stay there, you will have to stay in Mexican Hat or Kayenta.* Be sure to take a jeep tour, which you can arrange at the visitor center.* The roads are soft dirt and not appropriate for your motorcycles, but in addition, the tour will take you to places you can't go on your own.* Here is a link to the hotel -

May 19th - Monument Valley to Grand Canyon, AZ
This is another short ride (as is tomorrow) to give you this afternoon and tomorrow morning to explore the Grand Canyon.* I suggest you try to get lodging in Grand Canyon Village, or just outside the park.* You will need advance reservations to book inside the park - there are still rooms available, but they book up well in advance.* Here is a link to the website -

May 20th - Grand Canyon to Kingman, AZ
Here is your chance to get a taste of Route 66.* Head south to Williams and US-40 follows old Route 66.* At Seligman, you will leave the main road to follow the old road through Peach Springs.* Stop at Grand Canyon Caverns, and then stay on old Route 66 in Kingman.* You will find a lot of spots to photograph along this stretch of road.

May 21st - Kingman to Las Vegas, NV (2 nights)
As you head to Las Vegas, take a detour to the Grand Canyon Skywalk.* It is about 30 minutes to the turn-off, and then about 1-1/3 hours each way to the Skywalk.* After seeing the Skywalk, head into Las Vegas for 2 nights.

Guzzin Californian, jolla siis me reissumme Jenkeissä ajettiin, 1100 cc antiikkinen työntötanko ilmajäähykone ei pistänyt Death Valleyn ja Nevadan kuumuuttakaan pahitteeksi. Puhtia löyty mitä löydettävissä on. Sen kylläkin huomasin että kuumimmilla osuuksilla venttiilien naputus lisääntyi mutta jälkiviisaana ois pitänyt vaan tankata sitä oktaaniluvultaan korkeinta pentsiiniä. Toisaalta, eihän tuo HD:n ominaisuus itseä haittaa kun ei ole HD:hen siirtymässäkään
